Abel: CC actor passes

Jonathan Ferdinand Abel died at the age of 81 on December 15, 2013. Jonathan was born in New York, New York on June 6, 1932. He attended Riverdale Country School and graduated in 1950. He attended Connecticut Wesleyan and received a Bachelor of Arts in 1954. Jonathan Abel was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Marine Corps for twenty seven years.

Gunn: Famed newspaperman passes

John was the co-author of the Virginia 1968 Freedom of Information Act and received the George Mason Award from the Richmond Sigma Delta Chi. He was the only editor on duty at The Richmond News Leader the day JFK was assassinated and had the duty of yelling “stop the presses” and helped crank out an updated edition hours later. Through the years, he interviewed politicians, sports legends, celebrities, and military heroes.

Elhbeck: Fla Chapter member Trudy passes

Trudy Ehlbeck, 75, of Port Orange, Florida passed away on May 23, 2013 after a battle with leukemia. Trudy was also a breast cancer survivor. She was a special wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed. Trudy met her husband, Hank while working at Life Magazine and they had been married since 1959. When she wasn’t running a family, Trudy was an avid gardener, having won awards at local garden shows.
