WNEW seeks street reporters for FM all news radio station in Washington, DC.  This position will be based in Lanham MD.  This position consists of live reporting from the scene of breaking news stories, producing stories for future air, recording features and special series.  The street reporter position has a strong multimedia component that extends beyond traditional radio to the station’s website and social media. Reporters will write, take pictures and record video when appropriate and post to various digital platforms.  Reporters are expected to keep close ties to the communities the station serves and develop contacts that turn into leads that become stories that matter to our listeners.  This position requires active participation in station events, internal editorial board meetings, and meetings with community based organizations.

The ideal candidates will have the following:
Institutional knowledge of and close ties to the DC area.
Extemporaneous on-air delivery that conveys the sound of movement, immediacy, and urgency in a conversational, unrushed style
Ability to creatively tell stories using a variety of sound in 35 seconds or less, write and produce multiple versions of multiple stories under extreme deadline pressure
The journalistic chops to make sense of complex news stories and the talent to write them in a clear, concise, and lively manner
Strong interviewing skillsConfidence to go live during stressful breaking news situations
Thorough knowledge of digital audio editing software and remote broadcast technology
Self Starter, resourcefulness, physical and mental endurance. This is a physically demanding position

Required Qualifications
A Drivers License and clean driving record is required and must be maintained for the duration of employment in this position
Three years major market experience & college degree preferred
Recent college graduates or those with smaller market experience with a strong drive to succeed – and can demonstrate all the requisite skills for the position will also be considered
