Still time to contribute

Dimensions: Height: 5'. Width: 4'. Depth: 1'4". At one end of the monument is a pen; on the other, an M-1 rifle as the General was fond of calling these Demon's his "fighter-writers" The location of the memorial is adjacent to a planned statue of the legendary "Chesty" Puller and very close to the Semper Fidelis Chapel overlooking the National Museum of the Marine Corps. The area immediately surrounding the Denig Memorial can accommodate 76 engraved bricks.

This is an update for all members and friends.  Old Corps sportscaster Bob Kinsman used to close his AFRTS radio show in the mid-60s saying:  “Well, folks, this is Bob Kinsman rounding third and heading home.”  That is precisely the situation your USMCCCA Foundation is in.  We are close and we will dedicate the memorial in November.  Currently, fundraising has slowed down.  While we are close, we still need your contribution, especially for the 76 engraved bricks that will surround the Memorial.

Above you see two views prepared by Chuck Beveridge of the  memorial.  The inscription under the famous photo of the General is his first instruction to the new CCs in February 1942:

“Give most of your time and attention to the enlisted man-what he says, thinks and does. If Pvt. Bill Jones of Cumberland Gap wins the boxing tournament, tell the people of Cumberland Gap about it.”  — Brig. Gen. Robert L. Denig Sr., February 1942

On the back, under the USMCCCA Foundation logo, the inscription reads:

Dedicated to Denig’s Demons and all those colorful Marines whose striking words and pictures continue to echo the glorious colorful deeds of our beloved Corps

This is your opportunity to memorialze a friend, relative, even yourself.  The bricks cost $300.  They contain space for three lines of lettering, 20 letters to each line.  You can pay for the brick on this website or you can send a check to the USMCCCA Foundation, 110 Fox Court, Wildwood, FL 34785.  You may also call or email CCHQ Tel: 352.748.4698, email: usmccca@cfl.rr.com, and give us your credit information.  These contributions may be tax deductible.  If you cannot pay now, make a pledge and take three years to pay it off.
