Photojournalist sought for National Intelligence
Michael Birmingham sent us a job posting for a Photojournalist-Writer-GS-9:
The basic mandatory requirement is this:
“Bachelor’s degree in journalism, or four years of photojournalism experience, which may consist of any combination of job relevant post-secondary education including accredited college, technical training, military service and practical experience.”
I wrote this vacancy specifically to cast the widest net for young men and women who may be completing a first or second term of an enlistment and who may still wish to serve but not necessarily in uniform. Someone leaving the service after one or two terms would not need a degree. The job is within the ODNI entry level program so the grade and step are not negotiable. This is not a job for a career servicemember who is approaching retirement and wishes to double-dip, unless they wish to take a GS-09 salary. Opportunities for advancement and crossover are extensive. After a couple years doing photojournalist work, they may move over and perform media relations, outreach, or even speechwriting. They may even pursue other interests in the Intelligence Community.
