Kyser: Beloved Life member and Lucas Chapter Treasurer passes

Published by Jason Fudge on

Jim Keyser passed away after a long illness.

Update:  As I promised here are the details for Dad’s services.  To the extent you are able, please assist me in “getting the word out” across the network.

The family will host a visitation at the Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd, Dale City, VA 22193 on 17 February from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and there will be a funeral service held at the Quantico Marine Base Chapel on 19 February at 1:00pm followed by interment at the Quantico National Cemetery with military honors at 2:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation

We are in the process of putting together some additional details for a reception after the internment and I will get that “on the wire” as soon as we’ve “tightened up the shot group” on that. –Giles Kyser

Beloved Life member and Lucas Chapter Treasurer, Jim Kyser passed away yesterday.

From his son: With a heavy heart but with pride in knowing the many lives he touched and the devotion he felt to each of you, I pass on that Dad reported for duty tonight and is standing post on the streets of heaven.
Mom, Chris, Lauren, and I visited him today at the facility in Richmond.  He experienced a tough… night and was very tired but had the chance to see us, know we were there, and tell us all that he loved us.  We left him around 1530, had an early dinner and started our journey north to take Mom home when the facility called us and said that Dad was having an acute cardiac event and would have to be taken to the nearest full care hospital.  They had already begun CPR and approximately an hour and fifteen minutes later they had done all they could for him.  Mom, Chris and I were with him.
He had a wonderful day yesterday and we really thought things were on the best trajectory we’d seen in a month and then this terrible turn today.  He fought to the end…as you would expect.  He is a Marine.
