Two USMCCCA members, Mike Rhea (left) and Dave Hugel were among the large audience to greet Commandant James Conway on June 11 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. It was the generals second appearance at the Club since becoming commandant. One question asked of the general during his one-hour talk: What would you tell the parents of an 18-year-old son who wanted to join the Marine Corps? Conway (after a slight pause): I would look the mother straight in the eye and tell her theres no safer place in the world than to be with a battalion of United States Marines.
