Christmas goodies to be sent to our troops in Afghanistan. These goodies were the result of a drive sponsored by Vickie’s barber shop and Lea’s Prayers and Postage. The Florida Chapter of the USMCCCA donated $200.00 to help defray the cost of shipping

Vickie Hager and her husband Eddie, together with Dee Mills sponsored  a drive for Christmas goodies to be sent to our troops serving in Afghanistan.  Vickie and her husband own Vickie’s barber shop in Spring Hill, Florida.  Mrs. Dee Mills of Lea’s Prayers and Postage and Linda Kidwell of Gift’s from Home took care of the shipping.

Here’s the way it worked.  You got a free hair cut on 8 November, 2010 if you donate an item or cash.  Cash donations are used to help defray the cost of shipping the donated items.  There were also free hot dogs donated by Gino’s Place in Spring Hill.  There were about 650 items and $850.00 in cash donated.  Obviously the Hager’s were busy cutting hair until well into the evening.

Vickie and Eddie have a Marine son who has been deployed to Iraq 4 times and a son who is in the Army National Guard.  Mrs. Mill had a Marine son who was killed in Iraq.

The Florida Chapter of the U. S. Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association, agreed at their meeting on 16 Oct., 2010 to donate $200.00 towards the drive.
