CC and DINFOS-connected writer a victim of Annapolis Capital shooting.

Wendi Winters, USMCCCA affiliate member and frequent Defense Information School guest speaker, was among the five news people killed yesterday at the Annapolis Capital. Shown here with former DINFOS Commandant, Col. Jeremy Martin, Wendi was known as a “force of nature” in the region.

In addition to her passions and activities described in the accompanying link, the classic New Yorker was especially supportive of active duty military members, armed forces aspirants and veterans of all ages.

Her great grandfather was the designer of the Marine Corps Seal; all four of her children were in uniform at one time or another, including two Naval Academy graduates; and, although a civilian, she held the unprecedented post of Honorary President, Secretary, Treasurer and Corresponding Secretary for USNA’s Class of 1940, filling Shipmate magazine with tales and updates on the dwindling, World War II seasoned membership of that historic group.

One of Wendi’s more colorful DINFOS gigs was a Point-Counterpoint journalism debate with CC stalwart Mike Rhea.
