Fries, Jr.: Radio announcer and author of “Raging Fire” passes

CC member, Sgt. Charles J. V. Fries, Jr., son of Shirley A. Joslin-Fries passed away at his home in Nashville, TN., March l6, 20ll.  Charles was born in Syracuse, New York September l2, l954.  He spent many of his younger years in Hawkinsville, New York.  The family moved to Florida in l959.  Charles graduated from Fort Myers High School, Fort Myers, Florida, class of l972.  He attended Edison College in Fort Myers.

He served his country in the US Marines for six years and was honorably discharged.  He remained in active service status.  He was married to Nancy Miller in l973 at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  They had one son, Christopher Burton.

He was employed as a Radio Announcer at Camp Lejeune, He then worked as an insurance salesman, realtor and became an author.  His last book is entitled, “Raging Fire”.

He was pre-deceased by his father, Charles J. V. Fries, Sr., his wife Nancy, infant son, Christopher Burton Fries and his sister, Carol Ann Fries….

Surviving relatives include his mother, Shirley Joslin-Fries, a native of Boonville, New York, a brother Bobby Keith of Brooksville Florida, a sister Annie of Florida, cousins W. Glenn and (Chrissy) Joslin, Marji and (Herb) Williams, Eric and (Wendy) Joslin, and Shirley Jaye Joslin, all of Ft. Myers, Fl., David E. & (Jana) Joslin of MN., Gary Joslin of Syracuse, NY, Mark and (Sandi) Joslin of Forestport, NY, Trish and (Mark) Tatum of Virginia, Lori and (Don) Fie of Canastota, NY, and Shelly and (Paul) Gayring of W. Monroe, NY, and Cheryl Joslin and (Jim) Atkins of Farmington, New Mexico and one favorite Aunt Esther L. Joslin Korb of Chittenango, NY.

Charles was a devout Christian and loved by all who knew him. His remains will be placed with his infant son, Christopher Burton, who died at birth, at Moore’s Creek Battle Site in Wilmington, NC.
