CC print judge passes

A print judge in 2008 and National Press Club colleague, Jerry Bastarache, died Friday of melanoma (brain cancer). Services are scheduled in Falls Church, VA on Wednesday. The Club will be conducting a separate memorial service and I will keep you posted on the date.
I have known Jerry for some 35 years. I worked with him at the Intelligent Transportation Society of America for several years and took over as media director when he retired from the job. He was one of the best writers in town and he accepted my invite to all of the Lucas Chapter meetings when they were held in D.C. He was a Navy PA chief during Nam and an outspoken fan of the Marine Corps. A wonderful guy and only in his late 60’s.
