Funeral services were held for Jack Lewis on June 11 at Star of the Sea Church at Kalapana, HI. Called the “painted church” it was the perfect location for ceremonies honoring Jack, whose life was equally colorful.

In his remarks, Pastor Alex Pacheco recalled Jack’s strengths even at the end. He married Jack and Stephanie one month before his death. “He was determined to do this and we performed the ceremony at Jack’s beautiful home high overlooking the Pacific ocean.”

Jack Paxton, Executive Director, USMCCCA, eulogized Jack, telling about his earnestness that the Association should survive and the monetary backing he provided to assure it did.

“He even called me a month ago,” Jack said, “asking what he owed for his ad.”

“What bothers me,” Paxton said, “is we recently honored Jack by naming one of our merit awards after him. This is the second award we have made and, shortly thereafter, our honoree dies.”

Very fittingly his colors were presented to Stephanie by the Public Affairs Chief, MCB KBAY, GySgt. Arsenio Cortez.

Knowing Jack, he would have appreciated that.
