Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced today that the president has made the following nomination:

Marine Corps Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., for appointment to the rank of general and for assignment as the 36th commandant of the Marine Corps, Washington, District of Columbia. Dunford is currently serving as commander International Security Assistance Force-Afghanistan; and commander, United States Forces-Afghanistan.
