Writer’s Cramp –Celebrated World War II cinematographer Norm Hatch is spending many of his days lately autographing copies of War Shots, the great tome by Charles Jones, highlights the photographic capture of World War II in the Pacific by Marine Combat Cameramen.

Schlossenberg: Oldest CC passes

Irving Schlossenberg was born March 19, 1918 in Baltimore and lived in Overland Park, Kan., where he passed away. He served as a Marine combat correspondent during World War II from 1942 to 1945, during which he served in five pacific campaigns, including four first-wave landings. He was the oldest living combat correspondent at the time of his death.

Pull up: A Marine attached to Marine Detachment Fort Meade, Md., completes the final pull-ups during the Squad of the Month competition aboard the installation Jan. 28, 2011. The Marines, students at the Defense Information School, competed over the course of the month and were judged on grade point averages, professional military education, Marine Corps knowledge, inspections and physical fitness. Fourth squad, lead by PFC Emmanuel Ramos, edged out the competition by seven points.Pack: Cpl. Zurick: Honorary Life member dies

During WWII Andrew served with the Marines in the Pacific, where he met Pat, who was serving in the Navy. A resident of Arizona since 1974, Andrew previously served on the Chicago Ridge, Illinois Board of Trustees. A service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, on February 16th.
