13th USMCCCA Foundation (Florida Chapter) Golf Tournament a Success
With 64 players braving an early start to a very hot summer afternoon, the 13th annual USMCCCA (Florida Chapter) Golf Tournament held April 28 at Sherman Hills Golf Club in Brooksville, FL, now goes into the books as a resounding success!
Tournament chair “Red” Carpenter reports that even though it was a smaller field than usual, the USMCCCA Foundation will be a winner. The tournament itself saw a profit of $5,237.
Chapter member Gene Smith, who is Tournament Director of the PGA Champions Tour, had provided a golf cap with the signatures of Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Lee Trevino and the late Arnold Palmer which the chapter elected to auction on Facebook rather than at the tournament. Within minutes of posting a pledge had been made for $1,000. This, when received, boosts the profit for the Chapter (and Foundation) to $6,237.
Carpenter thanked all Chapter members who helped make the 2017 tournament a success. Others who rate “kudos” include Heineken USA for again providing “product” for the thirsty golfers; Gene Smith of the PGA Champions Tour; Ford Press of Leesburg; Scott and Pat Carpenter, and Kevin Doll who served as emcee for this year’s tournament and auction.
